CBD Coffee Fig Compote
Spring is halfway over already, and we are starting to feel like summer is just around the corner. One ingredient that has always tempted me during this season is figs. My mum used to always make delicious fig cookies. Figs are high in fiber, they may also help lower cholesterol and control blood sugar levels. In addition, they have few calories and are low fat, yet they are one of the most nutritious plants that we can eat.
Below is a recipe to take your CBD Beverage one step further.
1 1/4 c. brewed CBD Flower Power coffee
7 oz. pkg. dried mission figs, stems removed and figs quartered
1/4 c. honey (preferably local)
1/2 t. cinnamon
1/8 t. cardamom
1/8 t. cloves
1/8 t. nutmeg
1 t. orange zest
In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the coffee, figs, honey, spices and orange zest.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer covered for 20 minutes.
With a slotted spoon, remove figs from pan. Next, simmer liquid uncovered for an additional 5 minutes. Do this over medium heat until reduced and syrupy. Then, combine the figs and syrup. Take out the figs so they can cool to room temperature on the counter. Then cover and refrigerate until ready to serve. Enjoy!
